HILO, Hawaii ( ) — The University of Hawaii at Hilo will soon be home to a new facility for the U.S. Geological Survey. Get news on the go with KHON 2GO , KHON's morning podcast, every morning at 8 On June 28, 2023, students at UH Hilo and government officials attended and participated in a ceremony to bless the ground where the facility will be built. Officials in attendance included U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz and USGS Director David Applegate.
