Aikido of Hilo will celebrate Clyde Takeguchi Shihan's promotion to 8th Dan during a three-day Labor Day seminar. Eighth Dan is the highest rank awarded by Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo Japan. Takeguchi Shihan will instruct aikido at the seminar. High ranking 7th and 6th Dan instructors from throughout Hawaii, the mainland and Japan will attend along with other black belt and beginner students. Takeguchi Shihan began aikido on the Big Island in 1958. He now heads Capital Aikido Federation, an organization with dojos in many U.
